Trailing floral vines create an open frame around the emperor’s musician as birds and peacocks listen on intently. This beautiful, chinoiserie scene is taken from an 18th century wallpaper document, in the tradition of the draughtsman Jean-Baptiste Pillement, who created highly imaginative designs with delicate detail.
